Clearer Water.
Easier Care.
The right products, the right balance, and expert guidance when you need it.
Blackthorne carries trusted spa water-care products from BioGuard®, SpaGuard®, Water’s Choice, FreshRain® and more, plus computerized water testing to help take the guesswork out of maintaining your spa.
Good Water Care Starts With the Basics
You do not need a shelf full of products to maintain your spa. Start with properly balanced water, maintain the right sanitizer level, shock as needed, and keep the filter and plumbing clean. Blackthorne can help you determine what your water actually needs.
Bring Us the Water.
We'll Help With the Rest.
A water test can tell you what your spa actually needs before you start adding products.
Bring a pint-sized sample of your pool or spa water to Blackthorne. We’ll test it and provide easy-to-follow recommendations to help bring your water back into balance.
Start With Balanced Water
Proper pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness help protect your equipment, improve comfort, and make the rest of your water-care routine easier.
pH Increaser
Raises low pH to improve water comfort and help protect spa equipment from corrosion.
pH Decreaser
Lowers high pH and helps reduce cloudy water and scale problems associated with improper balance.
Total Alkalinity Increaser
Helps stabilize pH and reduce the rapid fluctuations commonly called pH bounce.
Calcium Hardness Increaser
Raises calcium hardness to help protect spa surfaces and equipment from corrosive water.
Keep Bacteria Under Control
Warm spa water makes proper sanitization especially important. Chlorine and bromine systems help control bacteria and keep your water clean and comfortable.
Brominating Concentrate
Fast-dissolving brominating granules that act as both a sanitizer and oxidizer.
Chlorinating Concentrate
Fast-acting, quick-dissolving sanitizer and oxidizer for spas and hot tubs.
Brominating Tablets
Slow-dissolving one-inch tablets designed to provide continuous bromine protection.
Remove What Sanitizer Leaves Behind
Shock treatments help destroy organic contaminants and restore water clarity.
Body organics, perspiration, cosmetics and other organic material build up in spa water. Regular oxidation helps remove those contaminants and keeps the water feeling fresher.
Always follow the product label before re-entering your spa.
Enhanced Shock
Multi-purpose shock designed to restore sparkle and remove odors.
Spa Shock
Quick-dissolving non-chlorine oxidizer compatible with chlorine and bromine systems.
Spa Water Enhancers
Once the basics are under control, specialty products can address foam, odors, scale, staining and other specific issues.
Water Freshener
Helps eliminate unwanted odors and leaves spa water smelling fresh.
Anti-Foam
Quickly reduces surface foam caused by soaps, conditioners and organic contaminants.
Stain & Scale Control
Helps prevent mineral scale, cloudy water and fresh metal stains.
Spatec For Spas
Helps support clear, comfortable spa water while reducing the effort required for routine maintenance.
Cleaner Water Starts With a Clean System
Your chemicals can only do so much if the filter and plumbing are dirty.
Clean filters improve water circulation and filtration, while periodic plumbing cleaning helps remove buildup hidden inside the spa lines.
Fresh cartridges help maintain circulation and filtration.
Deep cleaning helps remove organics and debris from the filter fabric.
Remove unseen buildup from inside spa plumbing lines.
Filter Cleaner
Breaks down organics and dirt trapped in filter fabric.
Spa System Flush
Helps remove unseen buildup from inside spa plumbing.
Beautec For Spas
Helps protect against scale, staining and organics buildup.
303 Aerospace Protectant
Helps protect compatible exterior surfaces from UV exposure, dirt and staining.

Common Spa Water Questions
These are some of the questions we hear most often.
What does balancing my spa water mean?
Balancing your spa water means adjusting pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness so your water stays comfortable, clear and easier to maintain.
Why is pH so important?
pH affects comfort, water clarity and equipment life. Low pH can contribute to corrosion, while high pH can lead to scale and cloudy water. The ideal spa pH range is 7.2–7.6.
Why does my spa need sanitizer?
Sanitizers help control bacteria and other contaminants. Warm spa water makes maintaining an appropriate sanitizer level especially important.
What causes foam in a hot tub?
Foam is commonly caused by organics, residual laundry products in swimsuits, hair products, soaps and other contaminants entering the water.
How often should I clean my spa filter?
Filters should be rinsed regularly and chemically cleaned periodically. Blackthorne currently recommends chemical cleaning approximately every 3–4 weeks to help maintain performance and extend filter life.
Can Blackthorne test my spa water?
Yes. Bring a water sample to Blackthorne for computerized testing and recommendations. Testing is free with an in-store purchase or $5 without a purchase.
Not Sure What Your Water Needs?
